& Door Tour
Join us to celebrate the beauty of the holidays
and West Chester borough!
The perennially popular Holiday Home Tour will take place on Saturday, December 4, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and will showcase eight homes on the North side of the borough decked out for the holidays. Ranging from petite to grand, Victorian to mid-century modern, the homes blend original details with modern updates and display the homeowners’ art, collectibles, and antiques. Holiday Home Tour attendees are also invited to tour the West Chester Friends Meeting House and will receive free admission to the Chester County History Center.
Important! To ensure a safe and comfortable experience for our homeowners, volunteers, and attendees, all Holiday Home Tour attendees 12 years of age and older are required to bring your COVID-19 vaccination card and photo ID, or digital images of them on your phone. These must be presented on the day of the Tour either at the library when you pick up your Tour booklet and wristband OR at the first home you visit on the Tour. After proof of vaccination one time, you will receive a second wristband to wear for the rest of the event.
All patrons are required to wear masks while indoors.
Created as a socially distanced replacement for the Holiday Home Tour during the pandemic shutdown of 2020, the family-friendly Holiday Door Tour was so popular the library has decided to offer it in addition to the Home Tour! Running from Saturday, December 4 through Sunday, December 19, this self-guided tour will feature dozens of West Chester doors and porches decorated by their owners in holiday finery. It can be enjoyed at any time of day and by a group of your choice. The door tour is flexible for an experience of any distance and duration.
Note: This tour does not include entry into homes and is entirely outdoors, self-guided, and at a time of your convenience. Vaccination documentation is not required by WCPL to participate. For your safety, please follow the latest CDC guidance regarding masking at the time of your tour and for the size of your group.
All ticket purchases and donations include an entry to win our 2021 raffle, including:
a framed print of “The Reading Room” by acclaimed West Chester artist John Suplee
a lottery ticket tree
a book-page holiday wreath
tickets for next year’s Holiday Home Tour
The drawing will take place on December 21 at 4:45 pm.
All proceeds from the Holiday Tours will benefit West Chester Public Library
and the community it serves.
Holiday Home Tour tickets may be purchased in the library or online. No tickets (wristbands) or booklets will be mailed this year. When purchasing online you can choose to pick up your wristband and booklet at the library any time before or on the day of the Tour. If you choose to download the booklet, you will still need to pick up your wristband at the library before or on the day of the Tour.
Vaccination proof will be checked at the library only when picking up wristbands and booklets on one day before or on the day of the tour. If you are picking up for others, please bring only your own proof of vaccine; others in your group can show their card and ID at your first stop on the Tour.
To attend the Door Tour, make a donation of any size to the 2021 Holiday Appeal. Donors will receive Door Tour maps, an entry in our Holiday Raffle, and a list of scavenger hunt items to look for among the decorations. Tour-goers can go on any or all of several scavenger hunts for specific items among the decorations in different areas of the borough.
