Riley Sager’s books

. . .have become a new hallmark of summer reading. His latest blockbusters, Home Before Dark (2020) and Lock Every Door (2019), are creepily atmospheric enough to bring a chill to the hottest of summer days and are brilliantly written, earning consistent rave reviews from the likes of The New York Times Book Review, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, USA Today and more. This June, Sager is back…but his latest, SURVIVE THE NIGHT (Dutton; June 29, 2021), is a departure from the present-day ghost stories he’s mastered. Set in the early 1990s, when Whitney Houston was at her peak and cell phones were a futuristic fantasy, SURVIVE THE NIGHT is tightly plotted at a breakneck pace. The entire book unfolds over just six hours, the time it would take two college students to drive from New Jersey to Ohio…if they even reach their destination.

About Riley Sager

Survive the Night is the fifth thriller from Riley Sager. Riley’s first novel, Final Girls, was a national and international bestseller that has been published in more than two dozencountries and won the ITW Thriller Award for Best Hardcover Novel. Sager’s subsequent novels The Last Time I Lied, Lock Every Door, and Home Before Dark, which received the Crimson Scribe Award by Suspense Magazine, were New YorkTimes bestsellers.

Riley Sager is the pseudonym of a former journalist, editor and graphic designer. His newest thriller, Survive the Night, will be released in June. A native of Pennsylvania, Riley now lives in Princeton, New Jersey. When he's not working on his next novel, he enjoys reading, cooking and going to the movies as much as possible. His favorite film is Rear Window. Or maybe Jaws. But probably, if he's being honest, Mary Poppins.

Praise for Home BeforeDark

“Something fresh, shot through with shocks of real horror.”

—New York Times Book Review

“A cross between Gillian Flynn’s Dark Places and ghost hunter heir Alexandra Holzer’s autobiography, Sager’s latest is a haunted house story—with a twist…Sager is a master of the twist and the turn.”

—Rolling Stone

“[A] propulsive thriller”

“A stunning tale that blends genres with the ease of a master painter mixing colors…This is scintillating suspensewriting.”

—The Providence Journal

“Clever, twisty, and altogether spine-chilling…You'll want to read this one after dark, ideally with the wind whistling in the eaves and a window banging somewhere just out of reach. But keep the light switch handy. You just might need it.”
